CENTER FOR THE ARTS
The Center for the Arts in Jackson, Wyoming provides a permanent home to over a dozen arts and education non-profits in the heart of Jackson’s vibrant downtown area. The Arts and Education Wing, completed in January 2005, includes four dance studios, painting, drawing, photography and ceramics studios, a gallery, and administrative offices. The unbuilt Performing Arts Wing includes a 550-seat theatre for musical and stage performances, a 100-seat versatile “black box” theatre, and shared lobby space. The Center was designed as an important landmark and downtown amenity for the town of Jackson—as such, it possesses a monumentality appropriate for buildings of such civic importance, while maintaining an awareness of Jackson’s small town character.
